OVERVIEW
Diabetes Initiative for Primary Care: Wrestling with an Epidemic is organized by Pri-Med and would be held during Mar 31, 2016 - Mar 31, 2017. The target audience for this medical event are basically for physicians. This CME conference has been approved with a maximum of 1.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. In this program three expert clinicians provide their insights on managing patients with type 2 diabetes, from diagnosis through intensification of oral and injectable therapies.
Objectives :
• Describe current trends in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes and obesity in the United States
• Compare the different classes of antihyperglycemic therapies with regard to mechanisms of action, efficacy, safety, and clinical features, including weight loss, avoidance of hypoglycemia, and mitigation of cardiovascular risk
• Develop individualized evidence based diabetes treatment plans that incorporate diet, lifestyle / behavioral changes, and pharmacotherapy
• Appropriately intensify therapy, including initiation and titration of injectable agents, in patients who require additional glycemic control in order to meet and maintain treatment goals.
