• Review scientific evidence about how depression adversely affects patients with diabetes both psychologically and physically.
• Recognize signs of depression in their patients with diabetes and use tools such as the PHQ-9 scale to diagnose and interpret results.
• Describe and differentiate between various approaches to treatment of depression in patients with diabetes.
