Obesity continues to become more prevalent in the United States, and with it, patients’ health and quality of life are diminished by an increased incidence of cardiovascular disease, cometabolic conditions, some cancers, and mood disorders. The majority of clinicians are uncertain about addressing obesity and weight loss for and with their patients out of fear of alienating the patient. Few clinicians are up to date on recent data supporting the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (RAs) for weight loss in terms of the extraglycemic effects that induce satiety and reduce effects of adiposopathy, resulting in weight loss and reduced obesity-related morbidity and mortality. Clinicians seek education to help foster weight loss to aid patients in achieving their health goals.
