Content Expiration Date: 12/31/28
Course Originally Released On: 03/01/25

Overview:
The goal of this course is to give insights into cultural nuances affecting women's health and strategies for delivering culturally competent care.

Goals and Learning Outcomes:
Healthcare professionals need to heighten their awareness about the importance of role, culture, and tradition in preventing and treating women’s unique healthcare problems. When there is a lack of cultural sensitivity in communication, patients are less likely to be content with their healthcare experience, increasing the likelihood of miscommunication and possible cultural disparities.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Recall cultural practices and gender roles that impact women’s health and how they influence health behaviors across the lifespan.
  • Recognize strategies for providing culturally competent care, including addressing harmful practices and accommodating cultural beliefs when appropriate.
