Course Description:
This specialized series provides a comprehensive review of radiation exposure risks and intravenous contrast reactions. Experts explain the basics of radiation exposure dose and how modern technical applications are designed to reduce overall patient exposure while optimizing image quality. In addition, the properties of modern contrast media, newly recommended injection dosages and ways to minimize adverse reactions to contrast media are reviewed. Experts provide valuable information which can be applied to routine practice.
Conference Objectives are :
• Review the basics of radiation exposure and radiation risk assessment.
• Identify patient and imaging factors that effect radiation dose and risk.
• Optimize dose reduction scanning parameters.
• Compare the principles of iterative reconstruction and filter back projection and their influence on radiation dose.
• Compare the properties of modern and historical intravenous contrast media.
• Discuss modern treatment of and avoidance of intravenous contrast reaction.
