Description:
Covid-19 is currently spreading rapidly around the world with gigantic and terrifying public health and economic consequences. In China, the country where it all started, the outbreak appears to be under control and life is slowly returning to normal. This talk will describe the steps which were taken by the Chinese government to overcome the Covid-19. It will introduce both the public health measures, which resulted in containment of the disease, and the clinical measures, which contributed to the relatively low mortality.

The focus will be on:
• lockdown and quarantine measures,
• mobilisation of the workforce for case finding and contact tracing,
• creating clinical capacity for patients (beds, oxygen, lab testing, CTs, personal protective equipment,
• use of digital surveillance to monitor population movement and to facilitate relaxation of control measures while preventing a rebound in the number of cases.
