Goal:
To provide an annual review of pharmacotherapy of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a respiratory disorder common in the ambulatory setting.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

• Describe the initial assessments of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Evaluate pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic management options for the long-term management of COPD
• Recognize acute exacerbations of COPD and recommend therapies for their treatment
• Apply the learned information about COPD to patient cases
