Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a set of complex processes that can impact all types of patients. Stephan Targan, MD, the Feintech Family Chair in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, calls it the interface between genetic predisposition, the overall environment and the microenvironment—the bacteria, virus and fungi in the gut. In a recent “Pioneers in Medicine” interview, host Bruce L.
