This fifth volume of Case Closed has been published to help physicians practice safe medicine and avoid allegations of professional liability. One of the best ways to remember risk management principles is by studying actual malpractice claims. These closed claim studies show how actions or inactions on the part of physicians led to litigation and how risk management techniques may have prevented the outcome or increased the physician's defensibility.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
• recognize practical strategies to avoid litigation and enhance defensibility in the event of a lawsuit;
• discuss issues associated with allegations of improper performance;
• identify the types and causes of communication errors;
• explain how good documentation techniques can help prevent malpractice claims;
• list allegations prevalent in lawsuits involving failure to follow up; and
• describe strategies to reduce diagnostic errors.
Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
