OVERVIEW

Caring for Someone with Dementia is organized by American Society on Aging (ASA) and will be held on Sep 04, 2019. This Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1 complimentary CE credit.

Description:
A new dementia diagnosis can bring with it a whirlwind of stress, confusion and anxiety about what to expect as the disease progresses. Nearly 60 percent of caregivers who care for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia rate the emotional stress of caregiving as high or very high (Dementia Caregiving in the U.S. 2017 Study). This month’s web seminar will offer a how-to look at caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. The emphasis will be on the care and dignity of the individual to help them live a more fulfilling life. It will also detail a person-centered care approach to help successfully manage symptoms and positively engage the individual with the disease.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:
• Describe the basics of dementia and the different types;
• List different symptoms and how to minimize them;
• Describe person-centered care and support strategies for family caregivers; and,
• List additional Alzheimer’s and dementia resources.

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
