Overview:
This course provides nursing professionals in the acute setting with emergency response and treatment for patients with crush injuries.

Goals and Learning Outcomes:
This course provides healthcare professionals with essential knowledge to recognize, assess, and manage crush injuries and their complications. Through clinical scenarios and evidence-based guidance, learners will explore the causes, pathophysiology, and treatment of crush syndrome and compartment syndrome. Emphasis is placed on early identification, timely intervention, and the prevention of life-threatening outcomes such as renal failure and systemic collapse.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Recognize the common causes and high-risk scenarios associated with crush injuries and compartment syndrome.
  • Identify early signs, symptoms, and laboratory findings related to crush syndrome and compartment syndrome.
  • Recall appropriate emergency and in-hospital interventions, including fluid resuscitation, monitoring, and pressure management techniques.
