Cannabis Education for Healthcare Professionals is organized by Central Michigan University (CMU).

Course Overview / Description:
Participants will learn about a holistic framework for addressing cannabis in medical practice that considers all these patient duties:

  • Recommend use for those who can helped
  • Recommend use for those who cannot be harmed
  • Discourage use for those who need to be functional and unimpaired
  • Educate those using cannabis about steps to avoid harmful impacts to themselves or others

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this presentation, attendees will:

  • Be familiar with the key facts about cannabis, including pharmacokinetics and delivery mechanisms
  • Know potential and recommended therapeutic uses
  • Be aware of relevant federal and state laws
  • Understand the harmful effects, including risks posed to adults and children across the age spectrum
