Program Overview:
Neovascular retinal diseases contribute to vision loss in adults. Regular intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment is the standard of care, but can be unduly burdensome. Early diagnosis and initiation of appropriate therapy preserve sight and quality of life for patients. The expert faculty will provide case examples to illustrate diagnosis, review the most current treatment options, and examine recent advances to improve treatment durability and extend the dosing interval for patients.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Outline data that provide a rationale for earlier referral for treatment of neovascular retinal diseases to prevent irreversible vision loss and complications
• Identify earlier stages of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME) using evidence-based evaluation tools and techniques
• Evaluate clinical trial designs, safety, and efficacy of novel strategies developed to provide more durable treatment of neovascular retinal diseases
• Determine individualized treatment of patients with neovascular retinal diseases based on evidence and with consideration of patients’ clinical needs and preferences.
