Overview:
The purpose of this program is to improve the knowledge, confidence, and performance of family physicians and other primary care physicians in the diagnosis and management of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD).
Learning Objectives:
• Diagnose and monitor MDD in patients using standard, effective measurement tools such as the PHQ-2 and PHQ-9
• Describe the physiological, neurobiological, and environmental factors that contribute to MDD and its clinical presentations
• Develop individualized treatment plans for MDD patients with remission as the goal, taking into consideration both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic options, such as psychotherapy and exercise
• Employ shared decision-making or the use of decision aids when creating a treatment plan for patients with MDD
• Engage the mental health medical neighborhood to support patients with MDD
