Educational Objectives 
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  • List and describe reasons for lack of cooperation during a medical visit
  • Summarize the 5 steps of a successful clinical encounter with a patient with I/DD or Autism
  • Assess for a variety of medical comorbidities in individuals with I/DD and ASD and analyze their impact on behavior.
  •  Evaluate various treatment approaches, including psychopharmacological interventions and their challenges.
  • Analyze and apply potential treatment options in case study discussions
