Best of IBD Forum: Modern Approaches for Optimal Care and Outcomes in UC and CD is organized by Healio, Vindico Medical Education, and will be held from Nov 20, 2021 - Nov 29, 2022.
Description:
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD), affects an estimated 3 million adults in the United States—and incidence and prevalence is increasing. In the quest to optimize outcomes, clinicians providing care to patients with IBD face numerous obstacles. These include accurately determining disease severity, treating the newly diagnosed patient, understanding and incorporating the use of available biologic agents and newer treatments with novel mechanisms of action, and applying strategies for therapeutic drug monitoring. Many aspects of IBD management have become challenging during the COVID-19 pandemic, but expert guidance is available to help clinicians navigate issues concerning the use of therapies for UC and CD at this unique time. The Best of IBD Forum 2021 is a multi-accredited activity that aims to provide health care professionals with guidance on the appropriate use of therapies as well as strategies for delivering individualized care to patients with IBD.
Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
• Incorporate the latest American College of Gastroenterology guidelines in daily practice.
• Apply appropriate criteria for determining the severity of ulcerative colitis (UC).
• Consider patient-reported outcomes when making treatment decisions.
• Initiate steps to ensure appropriate management of CD patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Incorporate shared decision-making into clinical practice.
