This activity will provide information and analysis on recently published studies in the areas of steroid treatment, early amino acid use, and neonatal opioid withdrawal.

ACCME Objectives:

  • Discuss the associations between maternal antenatal corticosteroid treatment and rates of psychological developmental and neurosensory disorders in children.
  • Describe the association of corticosteroid therapy for bronchopulmonary dysplasia in extremely preterm infants and risk of death or disability.
  • Discuss NICE recommendations for genetic testing to prevent deafness from antibiotics in newborn babies.
  • Discuss the impact of the use of early amino acids for extremely preterm infants on neurodisability at 2 years.
  • Describe the results of a recent clinical trial comparing eat, sleep, console approach, or usual care for neonatal opioid withdrawal.
