Description:
Utilizing OMSNIC closed case examples, a panel comprised of practicing OMSs and an attorney will illustrate patient safety and risk management principles to help OMS minimize adverse events related to the in-office administration of anesthesia.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the components used in the patient selection process to determine candidates for in-office administration of anesthesia, including age, physical status/airway assessment, medical and dental history, and medications. 
  • Discuss emergency management planning and preparedness for the OMS practice team. 
  • Apply the principles of patient safety and risk management, including the use of equipment and documentation of the patient experience in the clinical setting.
