This Course will help raise awareness of the incidence of anemia in the chronically ill, the available laboratory testing to investigate and correctly diagnose this condition, and the most effective approach to treat their condition.
Conference Objectives are :
• Discuss the incidence of anemia in non-surgical patients with chronic illnesses, including those with cardiac and renal disease.
• Describe the current testing approaches including use of reticulocyte hemoglobin content and hepcidin to assist with diagnosis and response to therapy.
• Review current management of anemia in these patients to prevent or reduce blood transfusion.
