American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Overview : HER2+ Breast Cancer is organized by City of Hope and would be held during Jul 07, 2017 - Jul 07, 2018.
The target audience for this medical event for Physicians, nurses and all other health care professionals. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Performance Gap Imperative :
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Mayo Clinic estimates that about 20% of breast cancers are HER2+. Younger women are more likely to be HER2+ than older women. HER2+ breast cancer tents to be more aggressive and spreads quicker than other cancers. HER2+ breast cancer patients have a better chance of successful treatment with methods that target the HER2 protein specifically. Up to 70% of patients with HER2+ breast cancer respond to treatment and total remission occurs in around 7-8% of patients.
It is widely acknowledged that the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting is one of the premier oncology meetings at which key findings from practice changing studies and the latest clinical data are presented and discussed. This information is important to the improvement of patient outcomes but the general practictioner may not always have the opportunity to attend the meeting.
Objectives :
At the end of this continuing medical education activity, participants should be able to:
• Examine advances in clinical and translational cancer research in HER2+ breast cancer presented at ASCO 2017
• Identify new patient management and care strategies or revise existing ones in HER2+ breast cancer based on knowledge gained at ASCO 2017
