Seminar Objectives are :
After completing this course the participant will have a better understanding and working knowledge of the following:
Pharmacology of Antibacterial Agents:
• The etiology of the odontogenic infections
• The pharmacological basis of antibacterial chemotherapy
• Strategies for developing strategies for antibacterial chemotherapy of odontogenic infections
• Recognizing indications and contraindications for the use of antibacterial prophylaxis
• Understanding the clinical relevance of antibacterial drug resistance
Pharmacology of Analgesics:
• The mechanisms of acute pain
• The pharmacological basis of and factors to be considered in the selection of an NSAID
• The pharmacological basis of and factors to be considered in the selection of a combination analgesic
• Discussion of potential adverse drug events associated with the use of analgesics
Pharmacology of Local Anesthetic Agents:
• Selection of the most appropriate local anesthetic agent for the management of intraoperative pain
• The basic mechanisms of acute pain.
• Potential adverse events associated with the use of local anesthetic agents.
