Aging and Long Term Care is organized by Vista Continuing Education. This course has been approved for a maximum of 3CE.

Course Overview:
Knowing an elder patient’s usual level of functioning and learning about any recent significant changes are fundamental to providing appropriate health care. Research shows that communication training improves trust dramatically, not only in communicating with patients, but also in assessing and building relationships with them. Communication skills are essential in understanding the issues faced by elder patients and their families. This course will explores the issues faced by aging patients and caregivers.

Course Objectives:
• The clinician will be able to identify the physical changes that are associated with aging.
• The clinician will be able to describe common psychological disorders found in aging individuals.
• The clinician will be able to explain signs of aging that may require additional care.
• The clinician will be able to categorize the types of care available to aging adults.
