OVERVIEW

The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation (GJCF) NMOSD Grand Rounds program aims toinform practicing neurology specialists as well as the broader spectrum of neurologists and allied healthcare providers regarding latest information in evidence-based science and medicine of NMOSD. This program features 12 essential topics addressed by experts in the field at a monthly interval. Organized and curated by GJCF advisors, this series of educational webinars enables continuing medical education (CME) credit.

Session entitled “Addressing Mental Health: Diagnosis & Interventions” is designed to update knowledge important for detecting and diagnosing dysfunctions in mental health as a consequence of physiological, behavioral or emotional impacts of NMOSD. Accurate and rapid differentiation of abnormalities in mental health will enable interventions designed to arrest and reverse their impact to promote quality of life through resilience.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Differentiating emotional responses and feelings from psychiatric disorders.
  2. Developing strategies for coping that increase resilience and quality of life.
  3. Promote beneficial communications among patients, caregivers, providers and other meaningful relationships.
