Description:
This one-hour webinar trains physicians and other care team members registered for the AHA/AMA joint Target: BP™ initiative, on the “Act Rapidly” component of the M.A.P. framework. M.A.P. stands for Measure Accurately, Act Rapidly, and Partner with Patients, Families and Communities.

Acting rapidly to manage high blood pressure is a key component to Target: BP participants’ ability to improve blood pressure control. The goal of acting rapidly is to quickly improve blood pressure control in patients whose blood pressure is uncontrolled. This is accomplished through a combination of using an evidence-based treatment protocol, seeing patients back frequently for follow-up until their blood pressure is controlled, using single-pill combination therapy, and incorporating feedback metrics whenever possible to drive improvement for the care of patients with high blood pressure.

Objectives:
At the completion of this online course, the learner will be able to:
• List clinician and patient factors that contribute to therapeutic inertia.
• Provide the benefits of using a standardized treatment protocol for people with hypertension.
• Review the benefits of using single-pill combination anti-hypertensive therapy.
• Explain why quality improvement programs that incorporate feedback metrics provide data that can drive improvement in blood pressure control.
