Pain Management Alternatives and Identification of Addiction - 
This course will fulfill the Act 124 CE requirement for dentists who have a current DEA registration or use another DEA number (as permitted by law) to prescribe controlled substances. The course also will count toward the one-time, 8-hour DEA MATE Act CE requirement.
Pain Management, identification of addiction and the practices of prescribing opioids will be discussed. 

Upon completion of the online training, the participant should be able to:

  • Understand the pathology and physiology of pain and addiction. 
  • Recognize alternative therapies for pain management.
  • Understand how to assess treatment programs and how to refer for treatment.
  • Cite the history and politics of opioids.
  • Be aware of doctor prescribing habits.
