Disease-modifying treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a rare, progressive neuromuscular disease, have drastically evolved in recent years and greatly improved patient outcomes and quality of life. However, challenges in diagnosis and management persist. One key barrier is lack of effective transitions for individuals who are transitioning from pediatric to adult DMD care. For adolescents with DMD, this transition period is a critical time during which many experience severe organ dysfunction, lose ambulation, and require specialized multidisciplinary care.
In this 45-minute video activity, two renowned DMD experts discuss diagnostic strategies and evidence-based treatment and management of patients throughout the DMD care continuum, including best practices for effective pediatric to adult care transitions.
This activity is delivered in partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.
