Course Objectives:
HSS Continuing medical education activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the completion of the course, the participant should be able to:
• Review and perform best practices for the various stages of the knee and hip replacement, including patient expectations, pre-operative therapy, pre-operative planning, post-operative pain management, and post-operative rehabilitation.
• Define and perform strategies for applying alignment techniques in practice.
• Express and incorporate into their practice the most up-to-date techniques and technologies such as robotics and cementless knees in adult reconstruction and joint replacement.
• Define and include in their practice current non-surgical treatment approaches for arthritis of the hip and knee.
• Review and implement the appropriate techniques for managing complex knee and hip cases.
• Describe the surgical options and indications for revision TKA and THA. They will implement strategies to determine appropriate patients for revision and the indicated surgical option.
