This course bundle is designed for Louisiana APRNs with prescriptive authority and fulfills the yearly 6 pharmacology-hour requirement. It covers essential topics such as opioid prescribing, proton pump inhibitors, and oral medications for STIs. Course Outcomes:
After completing this course, the learner will rate a 4 out of 5 on the Likert Scale for their ability to:

  1. Understand state and federal regulations governing NP opioid prescribing and document prescribing decisions appropriately.
  2. Describe the physiology of pain. 
  3. Recognize key pharmacokinetic characteristics of common PPIs.
  4. Discuss potential side effects, drug interactions, and safety concerns of PPIs.
  5. List alternatives to oral medication used for the management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). 
  6. Discuss the clinical criteria for prescribing oral STI medications
