Description :
Stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy for early-stage lung cancer has yielded outstanding outcomes comparable to radical resection. The approach requires special technologic requirements and contouring expertise to be safely performed. For locally advanced lung cancers, standard fractionation radiotherapy requires an understanding a different set of dose constraints and target objectives. This course will review both approaches.
Learning Objectives :
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Identify basic anatomy in the cases.
• Explain the rationale for current contouring approaches (targets and OARs) and technological requirements for common clinical scenarios including lung SABR and conventionally-fractionated radiotherapy for lung cancer.
• Determine the ITV, CTV, and PTV for lung cancer in SABR and IMRT treatment.
• Describe updates in normal tissue dose constraints and target dose objectives.
