OVERVIEW

Join our CE course for Nurses and NPs on Psychopharmacology - Managing Anxiety and Depression to gain insights into the mechanisms, uses, and pharmacokinetics of hypnotics and antidepressants. This course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge needed to safely prescribe, administer, and monitor psychotropic medications used in the management of anxiety and depression. Participants will explore the mechanisms of action and clinical applications of hypnotics and antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), and newer agents. Learners will also gain practical strategies for identifying and managing adverse effects, such as serotonin syndrome and hypertensive crises, while understanding key drug interactions and contraindications. In addition to unipolar depression and generalized anxiety disorder, the course covers the use of lithium and anticonvulsants in the treatment of bipolar disorder, emphasizing monitoring protocols, toxicity risks, and best practices in patient education. This evidence-based CE course ensures nurses and nurse practitioners can deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care, promoting optimal mental health outcomes through tailored psychopharmacological management.
