Objectives
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to meet the following objectives:

  • Categorize the different stages of pressure injuries.
  • Outline items that are necessary when performing a wound assessment.
  • Identify at least two pressure injury risk assessment screening tools used in a perioperative setting.
  • Compare intrinsic and extrinsic patient risk factors affecting pressure injury development.
  • Examine at least three interventions regarding pressure injury prevention.
  • Identify at least two complications of pressure injuries.
