Course Description:
As the rate of obesity in the United States increases, so does the need for radiographers and imaging professionals to adapt to the changing patient population. Written with both the limited and seasoned radiographer in mind, this course seeks to review principles and imaging considerations related to the obese patient population. This course reviews definitions, risk factors, and diseases associated with obesity as well as patient care principles specific to obese patients. Specific modalities and their implications for obese patients are discussed as well as an overview of bariatric surgery procedures, normal anatomy, and complication findings on imaging studies.
