Course Description:
This national report summarizes key findings from the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) for indicators of substance use and mental health among people aged 12 years old or older in the civilian, noninstitutionalized population of the United States. Results are provided for the overall category of individuals aged 12 or older as well as by age subgroups.

Learning Objectives:
• Analyze the statistics on tobacco use, alcohol use, and illicit drug use in the past month among various age groups
• Analyze the statistics on opioid misuse, substance use disorders, substance use treatment in the past year among various age groups
• Analyze the statistics on major depressive episode, mental illness, and mental health service use in the past year among various age groups
• Analyze the statistics on co-occurring major depressive episode and substance use among various age groups
• Analyze the statistics on the occurrence of suicidal thoughts and behavior among adults
