Outcomes:
92% of participants will be able to recognize life-threatening ECG rhythms and understand the importance of ECG monitoring.

Objectives:
After this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe normal cardiac anatomy and normal electrical conduction through the heart.
  • Identify and relate ECG waveforms to the cardiac cycle.
  • Characterize the different lead placements and the purpose of each lead placement.
  • Utilize a systematic process when approaching the interpretation of the ECG.
  • Differentiate normal and abnormal components on ECG.
  • Recognize sinus, atrial, junctional, and ventricular dysrhythmia on ECG and relate cause, significance, and symptoms.
  • Identify three pacemaker malfunctions.
