Course Description:
CT Safety: Dose Reduction & Image Optimization, 2nd Edition
Course Approval End Date: 08/01/28
This course offers the experienced and novice technologist a review and introduction to the factors affecting radiation dose in CT examinations: dose reduction methods and optimization of image quality. Chapter 1 reviews the principles of radiation physics. Chapter 2 provides information about the evolution of CT equipment design and dose reduction initiatives and the impact they have on radiation dose reduction and improvements in image quality. Chapter 3 focuses on information regarding radiation dose and biological risks associated with exposure to ionizing radiation during CT examinations that can be used to educate referring physicians, patients, caregivers, and the public about radiation exposure in CT examinations. Chapter 4 covers dose reduction techniques such as automatic exposure control, tube current modulation, automatic voltage selection, and iterative reconstruction, and examination specific dose reduction techniques in common CT examinations.
This course is based on the book CT Safety: Dose Reduction & Image Optimization, by Jeana Fleitz, M.Ed., RT(R)(M)(ARRT)™. The book/PDF is 101 pages long and 8.5 x 11 inches in size. This book has 12 pt font and 1.5 line spacing.
The test has 48 multiple choice and true/false questions.
CT: Abdomen & Pelvis Procedures
Course Approval End Date: 11/01/26
This course provides a review of CT procedures of the abdomen and pelvis. Normal anatomy, landmarks, pathological conditions and diseases within the abdomen and pelvis will be discussed. The CT procedures commonly performed will be covered along with general imaging considerations and protocols. The role of the administration of a contrast agent in CT procedures is also included. Patient comfort and safety are foremost considerations when performing CT procedures. Further, it is the CT radiographer’s responsibility to ensure that the CT protocols for each procedure are optimized to produce the highest image quality possible while keeping the radiation dose to the patient as low as reasonably achievable.
This course is based on the book CT: Abdomen & Pelvis Procedures, by Jeana Fleitz, M.Ed., RT(R)(M)(ARRT)™. The book/PDF is 149 pages long and 8.5 x 11 inches in size. This book has 12 pt font and 1.5 line spacing.
The test has 48 multiple choice and true/false questions.
CT: Head, Spine, & Musculoskeletal Procedures
Course Approval End Date: 11/01/26
This course provides a review of CT procedures of the head, spine, and musculoskeletal system. Normal anatomy, landmarks, vasculature, and pathological considerations of the anatomical spaces of the head, spine, and musculoskeletal system are presented. The CT procedures commonly performed are reviewed along with general imaging considerations and protocols. The role of the administration of a contrast agent in CT procedures and the CT radiographer’s responsibility to ensure that the protocols for each procedure are optimized to produce the highest image quality while keeping the radiation dose to the patient as low as reasonably achievable are also included.

The test has 48 multiple choice and true/false questions.
CT: Neck & Chest Procedures
Course Approval End Date: 07/01/26
This course provides a review of CT procedures of the neck and chest. Normal anatomy, landmarks, vasculature, and pathological considerations of the anatomical spaces of the neck and chest will be presented. The CT procedures commonly performed on the neck and chest will be covered along with general imaging considerations and protocols. The role of the administration of a contrast agent in CT procedures is also included. Patient comfort and safety are foremost considerations when performing CT procedures of the neck and chest. Further, it is the CT radiographer’s responsibility to ensure that the CT protocols for each procedure are optimized to produce the highest image quality possible while keeping the radiation dose to the patient as low as reasonably achievable.
