Course Description:
3.5-hour CEU course on managing work-related stress and burnout prevention. Identify different types of work stressors common to nurses and other healthcare professionals. Learn about creating a healthy workplace setting, the effects of stress on the body, and symptoms and stages of burnout. Identify individual and organizational prevention strategies and actions for responding to burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. Applicable for nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and EMS personnel.

Learning Outcome and Objectives:
1) Define “stress.”
2) Describe the potential health impacts of stress.
3) Differentiate between burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma as work-related stressors.
4) Discuss individual and organizational strategies to minimize the effects of work-related stress.
5) Explain how stress contributes to suicidal ideation.
