Description:
Maternal and child health (MCH) is an important public health issue. Maternal health refers to the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. Each of these stages should be a positive experience. Although there has been important progress over the past years, about 295,000 women die during and following pregnancy and childbirth in 2017. The latest data shows that about 810 women die every day from preventable causes associated with pregnancy and childbirth. In 2016, the World Federation of Public Health Assembly in partnership with the American Public Health Association globalized a policy statement on maternal mortality which was adopted at the 50th General Assembly in Geneva with the “Reducing Maternal Mortality as a Human Right” resolutions calling for action on tracking high rates of maternal mortalities and creating a workforce equipped skills to reduce maternal mortalities in the developing countries. Educating health professionals is key to achieving sustainable goals in bettering MCH.

The aim of this course is to provide a platform for participants to learn about a range of clinical practices, and legal requirements that impact their practices

Participants would gain comprehensive knowledge about issues in maternal and child survival and novel strategies in women and children's healthcare.
