Description:
Sepsis is a leading cause of preventable morbidity and mortality in children. Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes (IPSO), a 57-hospital quality improvement (QI) collaborative, established core QI definitions, identified primary drivers for improved outcomes, and developed measures to track improvement. Learn from IPSO’s experience in large-scale QI from authors of three foundational collaborative publications.

Objectives Topics:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:  
• Describe the seven key drivers for improvement in sepsis outcomes and care processes.
• Examine the strengths, weaknesses, and utility of the IPSO sepsis definitions.
• Identify optimal variables and measures for large scale sepsis quality improvement efforts while balancing automated extraction from the electronic health record
