This program addresses both common and uncommon challenges in hypertension and kidney disease that medical practitioners face in an ACCME accredited course.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify key mechanisms in the development of hypertension, including vascular, renal and neurohormonal pathways.
- Understand resistant hypertension and the role of therapies
- Recognize complications associated with delayed or inadequate treatment of severe hypertension.
- Examine the unique considerations for diagnosing and managing hypertension in older adults.
- Discuss the clinical implications and limitations of wearable BP monitors in hypertension management.
- Develop patient-centered plans incorporating dietary, exercise, and stress-reduction strategies.
- Describe the different classes of diuretics and their mechanisms of action
- Describe emerging therapeutic modalities for hypertension, including siRNAs, aldosterone synthase inhibitors, and catheter-based renal denervation.
