Course Information and Learning Objectives:
The Advanced Cardiology Education (ACE) Program empowers health-care professionals with the latest technical, cognitive, collaborative, and affective abilities to care for children with heart disease. The goal is to enable better global health outcomes for children with heart disease by cultivating excellence in health care teams and systems through inclusive and innovative online learning experiences.

By the end of this online course, participants should be able to:

• Differentiate between normal and abnormal paediatric cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• Provide short-term acute treatment and support to infants, children and families affected by congenital and acquired heart disease.
• Utilize specialized paediatric cardiac acute-care clinical skills to evaluate and diagnose infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease.
• Provide long-term treatment and support to infants, children and families affected by congenital and acquired heart disease.

Distinguished from conventional paediatric cardiology continuing medical education initiatives, this program features a comprehensive 33-week curriculum with an opportunity to earn 200+ learning credits and an Advanced Certificate of Completion.

You will zoom in and develop a fundamental knowledge of topics including fetal, neonatal and paediatric cardiac anatomy and physiology, pharmacological considerations, respiratory distress and management, and perioperative and postoperative care. You will also zoom out and gain insight on how to navigate the nuances of family-centred care. You will explore providing support to families with an antenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease through personalized care plans (e.g. palliative care, complex care and transitioning to adult care). You will also have an opportunity to lead case presentations and participate in peer-to-peer debates on ethical issues in paediatric cardiology.
