Revolutionizing Asthma Treatment: Implementing ICS-Based Reliever Therapies in Clinical Practice is organized by Michigan Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education and Lifelong Learning and will be held on Apr 16, 2025.

Description:
This 1-hour live webcast is intended to provide Category I ACCME credit for primary care and specialty healthcare professionals to better understand the role of inhaled anti-inflammatory based reliever (AIR) therapies in the acute and chronic management of adults with asthma. AIR therapy is now recommended by the worldwide GINA and US NAEPP asthma guidelines to better manage inflammation associated with respiratory symptoms and to reduce exacerbations. This is a paradigm change for asthma management, necessitating education of clinicians and patients. Faculty with the Michigan Medicine Asthma Program will discuss the scientific basis for this therapy and strategies to employ into clinical practice, including case scenarios. This live, web-based, 1 hour activity is part a curriculum on AIR therapy that also includes the same 1-hour activity at an in-person program, and a web-based enduring ACCME and MOCC IV materials that include an optional 0.5 hr ACCME "Be An Expert" in addition to the recorded, one-hour AIR Therapy materials.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1. Understand the clinical science supporting prescribing an inhaled steroid with reliever bronchodilators
2. Discuss current practices employing albuterol reliever inhalers in asthma management and opportunities for change
3. Describe and utilize the current GINA and NAEPP recommendations for using AIR Therapy in asthma management
4. Discuss patient cases employing AIR therapy in asthma
5. Understand and use the clinical science and practical application of AIR Therapy in adults with asthma.
