Description:
This study club will guide general dentists and dental specialists in the development of a systematic and biologically-based approach to radiologic image interpretation. Together, we will examine radiologic images that have been made in dental clinical settings, including intraoral, panoramic and cone beam CT images, review the scope and adequacy of the imaging examination, identify important imaging features of abnormalities, and develop a differential or definitive diagnosis for the abnormalities we have identified. Participants are encouraged to send images from their own private practices to Dr. Lam in advance of the study club, but this is not a requirement for participation. Each month, at least 5 cases will be reviewed by the study club members.

The Goals for Participants Who Attend the Study Club Are:

To develop an approach to investigating an abnormality that is identified on imaging.
To develop a systematic strategy to describing abnormalities on radiologic images made in practice, and discuss the necessity for additional images.
To focus on the role of biological processes in the development of abnormalities rather than the memorization of the names of many different lesions.
To develop a way to obtain advice from others to help in the process of evaluating an imaging findings, making diagnoses and next steps in patient management
