Proper Prescribing (RX-21) is organized by Professional Boundaries Education (PBI) and will be held on Jan 23, 2027.
Description:
Medications are prescribed and dispensed at an alarming rate for patients who suffer from many ailments, including acute and chronic pain, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and insomnia. This course goes beyond sound prescribing practices, illuminating for prescribers the personal and professional reasons why they may fail to prescribe properly at all times. The curriculum covers common misconceptions about controlled substances, assessment of patients for misuse potential, setting prescribing-related boundaries, patient behaviors that may impact their care, and team-based symptom management approaches.
An intensive pre-course component personalizes the course content to be state and profession-specific. Building on insights into why clinicians prescribe inappropriately, participants develop a Personalized Protection Plan©. This plan is designed to help them maintain their newfound knowledge base and prevent prescribing-related lapses.
