Periodontal disease in children and adolescents

Periodontal disease in children and adolescents is organized by British Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (BSP) and will be held on Oct 21, 2026.

Aims:
To improve the clinicians’ understanding of periodontal diseases in children and adolescents, their diagnosis and management considering the risk factors enabling early recognition, diagnosis and timely intervention.

Outcomes:
By the end of the webinar, the participant will be able to:

• Explain the types of periodontal disease presentation in children including systemic associated conditions.
• Recognize the clinical signs of periodontal disease in children and adolescents.
• Discuss the relevance of local and systemic key risk factors influencing disease susceptibility e.g. plaque control, eruption patterns, genetics, and systemic diseases and their effect on bone level changes.
• Describe the use of appropriate diagnostic tools including BPE and radiographs to detect early periodontal changes.
• Be aware of healing potential in early-onset periodontitis.
