OSHA-Mandated Update for Dentists and Staff is organized by Nassau County Dental Society (NCDS) and will be held on Jun 24, 2026.
Description:
This course includes New Information including additional requirements recently signed into law regarding dentist and sepsis management.
This course specifically includes OSHA update for current PPE COVID-19 recommendations, including newly updated masking requirements for NYC and beyond… what practitioners need to know
This requirement is separate from the NYS Mandatory Infection Control Re-Licensure requirement of every four years for dentists and hygienists.
OSHA 29CFR Part 1910.1030 States: Personnel subject to Occupational Exposure should receive Infection Control Training on initial assignment, when new tasks or procedures affect their occupational exposure, and at minimum annually.
Education Objectives & Goals:
- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is responsible for ensuring safe working conditions for all employees.
- In 2016, OSHA made a major update to the MSDS/SDS (material safety data sheets/safety data sheets) labeling requirements and employee training that required mandatory office compliance after June 1, 2016, including additional documentation requirements. OSHA constantly develops new solutions and standards to protect employees from injury and illness. It is the responsibility of employers to stay up-to-date on any OSHA changes to remain legally compliant, or face fines and costly claims that could lead to lawsuits. Dentists and their employees should update themselves at least annually and place appropriate documentation into their office manuals.
- The goal of this course is to inform attendees of the OSHA/CDC/ADA changes. The mandatory updates will be discussed in detail with handouts that will help guide the practitioner, hygienist and staff comply with the mandate that has instituted in 2016, and any other changes that have occurred after that date.
- Practitioners are encouraged to bring their staff members to facilitate compliance: otherwise, practitioners must fabricate their own document acknowledging dissemination of this update to their staff and place such documentation into the office manual.
- If an employer brings staff, a separate employer/employee training attestation document (that the employer and staff will sign at the end of the course) will be given to the employer to place into their office manual. Employers and their employees must be present together to sign the attestation document.
