OVERVIEW

Neuro Radiology Course - Imaging of Head and Spine Trauma 2026 is organized by Unilabs Academy and will be held from Sep 07 - 09, 2026.

Description:
The fellowship aims to increase the participants' confidence and competence in interpreting imaging studies of the brain, head and spine in traumatized patients.

The topics of intracranial injuries, head and facial trauma, as well as fractures and other injuries of the spine, will first be presented in a lecture format.

In this interactive, case-based fellowship course, you will develop key skills to confidently interpret head and spine imaging studies for trauma patients. You will learn to recognize various traumatic injury patterns, including those that may not be present in the acute setting. The training will enable you to identify life-threatening emergencies, distinguish between different types of spinal fractures (including pathological fractures), and differentiate traumatic from non-traumatic intracranial haemorrhages . Additionally, you will gain a deeper understanding of the limitations inherent in imaging studies, enhancing your ability to make more informed and accurate diagnoses.

After each lecture, the fellows will review and read representative anonymized clinical cases individually. This will be followed by the mentor's questions and comments regarding each case, along with interpretations and group discussion. The aim is to replicate a radiology reading room experience, and simulate clinical scenarios within a fellowship setting.

Unilabs Academy online fellowships are held in a virtual classroom on Zoom. Participants are encouraged to engage in discussions making use of their cameras and microphones to recreate the face-to-face experience. Live sessions are recorded so that you can review on your own time following the training.

In this small group among your peers, you are free to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn together with the support of the radiologist's mentor.

Dr. Rumboldt is not only a highly skilled and experienced radiologist but also a passionate lecturer and teacher who creates a dynamic learning experience.

Learning Objectives:

  • To recognise and identify traumatic injuries on imaging studies
  • To differentiate traumatic injuries from normal variants, artifacts and other pathology
  • To understand the clinical questions that need to be addressed
  • To formulate an adequate and clinically relevant report
  • To recommend specific additional imaging studies, when appropriate and needed

Programme will include:

  • Lectures on imaging of brain, head and spine trauma
  • Individual reporting with supervision/immediate feedback by the mentor
  • Group case discussion
  • Plenty of time for Q&A with Prof. Rumboldt
  • Lifetime access to presentation slides, session recordings, and other course materials
  • Access to discussed cases prior to and after the fellowship
  • Your own personal dashboard and course materials on the UNILABS ACADEMY radiology training platform
  • Certificate of attendance. An application has been made to the UEMS/EBR for CME accreditation for this radiology training.
