OVERVIEW

Medical Errors is organized by Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (FAPD) and will be held on Apr 20, 2023.

Course Overview:
This course meets requirements in FL Statute 456.013 (7) and includes information on error reduction and prevention, patient safety, and root-cause analysis. The course addresses the impact of medical errors on people we serve as well as the impact on dentists and all health care professionals.

Course Objectives:
• Define and recognize the potential for medical errors in the provision of care
• Evaluate, interpret and make inferences regarding recommendations to prevent medical errors
• Describe and discuss effects of medical errors on clients/patients and providers
• Describe and discuss components of Root Cause Analysis
• Increase comprehension of how cultural insensitivity and institutional racism increases the propensity for medical errors
