Intensive Style Online Balint Group: Lisa Buck & Ali Manning is organized by The American Balint Society (ABS) and will be held from Jan 21 - Mar 04, 2026.

Number of meetings and Dates: Four (4) monthly meetings on the following days: 1/21/26, 2/4/26, 2/18/26 and 3/4/26.

Description:
Join a special online Balint group where the focus will be not only hearing cases, but a debrief "intensive style" where Ali Manning and LIsa Buck will talk about leadership moves and help you solidify your skills. The group will meet four times for 90 minutes each session. We will work a case and then spend time discussing what happened and what the leaders considered during the case.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of the series, participants will be able to:

Identify aspects of challenging practitioner/client relationships.
Define what experiences for the practitioner can be improved through the use of a Balint Group.
Differentiate between reactivity and authentic responsiveness in the practitioner/patient encounter.
Identify language that minimizes or detracts from the individuality of the "other".
Formulate different options for handling challenging patient encounters.
Describe the usefulness of the group process for members as well as case presenters.
Define the relational impact of the work of identifying with a patient.
Contrast Balint Group work with conventional case consultation and discuss the applicability of each.
