OVERVIEW

Illinois Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) 2026 Pain Medicine Knowledge Self-Assessment (KSA) is organized by Illinois Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) and will be held on Mar 21, 2026.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify evidence-based pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments for acute and chronic pain conditions.
  2. Implement CDC guidelines for safe opioid prescribing, including initiation, monitoring, and tapering.
  3. Use validated tools and urine drug testing to assess opioid misuse risk and apply overdose prevention strategies.
  4. Establish patient-centered functional goals and engage in shared decision-making for pain management.

All answers will be submitted collectively, and participants will receive credit for completing the knowledge self-assessment. The KSA will earn 10 certification points and 8 live CME credits for ABFM certification requirements.

The Illinois Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.
