This advanced CME activity will provide participants with state-of-the-art information and practical guidance from internationally recognized experts on progress in managing HIV and viral hepatitis, including drug development and treatment, management of important comorbidities, HIV prevention strategies, eradication of hepatitis C and lessons learned from COVID-19 in the context of HIV. The discussions at this meeting will allow clinicians to provide the highest quality of care in a variety of practice settings.
The primary goals of this activity are to enhance each attendee’s capabilities to:
• Identify current and new antiretroviral agents and treatment strategies, including solutions to uncertainties in diverse patient populations
• Explain current and emerging treatment approaches for the cure of both hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV)
• Identify areas of overlap between the novel COVID-19 pandemic and HIV infection, exploring how lessons learned from each will inform future management and prevention decisions
• Evaluate issues in HIV prevention and the available approaches to reduce the risk of HIV transmission
• Discuss the common features of HIV infection, substance abuse, and mental illness and the importance of collaborative strategies in treating them
• Examine available noninvasive modalities for diagnosing and staging liver disease
• List key factors in managing hepatitis and other liver disorders in HIV-infected individuals
